Chicago Dramatists: A Night in Three Acts
Crooked Mouth will anchor this full-scale evening fundraiser (we are Act III) with a set of music and a scene from the new Bryn Magnus play, Moon at the Bottom of the Ocean, directed by Jenny and performed by Vicki, Jeffrey Bivens and Julia Williams. That play starts its full run on Sept 1st! More details on that here.
The entire evening starts at 6:30pm and is described thusly by our friends at Chicago Dramatists: “It's a live, on-stage celebration of what Chicago Dramatists does better than anyone: nurture and develop Chicago playwrights. We'll be featuring our playwrights' work along with a lot of added fun, drama, laughs, music and song. It's an exciting evening of awards and recognition.” Come hear us play and support the folks that support new plays!

Crooked Mouth and Vernon Tonges
The Crooked Mouth plays Links Hall, with special guest Vernon Tonges. A debate rages, shall we describe ourselves as "a little bit folksy, a little bit Brechtsy"? Or more like "an indescribable polyglot of singing and playing"? Or "a theater nerd band"? Whatever the tag, just know this: The Crooked Mouth is a bunch of literate scribes who can swing from a capella to rock, from new material to our deep deep bench, from songs about the alarm clock time to a writing residency to bats getting hit by cars. Oh and weird birds. Can't forget about that. And Vernon Tonges is the cat with the voice, a stomping guitar man with a big range.

We are back at the Wishbone, one of our favorite venues to play. The room is warm, in sound and in feel, and the food is delicious. Come on by and raise a glass and maybe a fried chicken leg.

Charm and good company will abound, rest assured.

House concert at Emmy & Ira's with the Foots
Take a look at this picture of 80 Foots per Minute. Are they not the finest looking string band in town? They are. And we get to play with them, in the house of Emmy Bean (with the flower in her hair) and Ira Murfin (not pictured, but also a fine looking gentleman). Our lovin' T-Roy does double musical duty this night, so we will be sure to keep him hydrated. Our last time round in this venue was a delight, and tonight will be no different. Join us!
